The Oraclereversed

Check what your hand is closed around today, and choose whether it is the thing you want to keep.

The card

The Oracle sits between two stone columns, eyes closed, in a dim temple at twilight. A crystal orb rests in her right hand. It is the only light in the room. She does not grip it. Her fingers barely hold it, and the light falls back on her own face and hands.

Turned around, the card shows that hand changing. The fingers tighten. The orb gets held up to be looked at instead of rested on. Or the hand drifts away from it and picks up the scroll, trying to read a script nobody can read.

Essence

The Oracle stands for inner knowing: truth found by being still, not by effort. She tells no future. She gives back what the seeker already knew and forgot. Reversed, that knowing is still there, but it is out of reach. The mind holds too hard to one answer, or it reaches for someone else's answer because its own is too quiet to hear.

For today

Notice what your attention keeps returning to today. A worry, a plan, an opinion someone gave you, a rule you picked up years ago. Some of these you chose. Others you simply grabbed and never put down. They feel solid only because you have held them so long.

Pick one and ask: did I choose to hold this, or did I just end up holding it? If you chose it, keep it, but hold it the way she holds the orb, lightly enough that its light can still reach you. If you never chose it, set it down for an hour and see what you hear without it.
